Security in Complex Environments (Hostile Environment and First Aid Training)

Deploying to higher security risk environments requires more than policy and procedural knowledge. This security training equips participants with the situational awareness, decision-making, and first aid skills needed to operate safely, confidently, and ethically in complex security situations. SiCE is an intensive, immersive and holistic four-day course designed for humanitarian and international development professionals deploying to medium to extreme security risk environments. The training equips participants with practical, contextual, and ethically grounded skills to manage personal and team safety, security and medical emergencies in remote and insecure locations. This course will introduce a variety of measures to help you reduce the likelihood and impact of security-related incidents taking place and enable you to respond appropriately to situations that could compromise your safety and that of your colleagues. SiCE has been designed specifically from a humanitarian and international cooperation NGO perspective to provide the most relevant and challenging training for aid workers. Essential theory (30%) learned in the classroom will immediately be put into practice (30%) and in realistic simulation exercises (40%). The course is designed with both experiential learning and stress inoculation learning methodologies and promotes inclusive, respectful and brave learning spaces.
